Longboat Key Overview:

Longboat Key is a long island about 11 miles long. It is surrounded by beautiful bodies of water (the Gulf of Mexico to the west and Sarasota Bay to the east). The island has a year round population of 7,622 residents, which grows to about 21,000 during the winter. Overall, the atmosphere is lush, clean, and upscale. The weather tends to be sunnier and cooler than spots just a few miles inland. The warm waters support a wide variety of marine wildlife, including dolphins, manatee and too many types of fish to mention.
